Check out this cool little collectible Volkswagen battery-operated toy that belongs to VolksAmerica and VolksMania team member Chris Wilburn. Intriguingly called Naughty Bug it was made by Hing Cheong Plastic and Metalworks Ltd. and its all plastic construction, upright headlights and bright orange color indicates it’s likely to have originally been for sale during the early 1970s or maybe even a little earlier. Why naughty? Well it smokes a bit (you add oil to the toy to enable it to make smoke from the exhaust pipe), it has what’s called a “mystery bump ‘n’ go action” (too hard to describe, just watch the video) and flashes its rear lights at you – how very naughty!
